Something about the announcement didn’t sit right. You want to know what you’re owed before you decide whether to stay, take the offer, or put your objection in writing. That’s the moment this site is written for. We cover the parts of a job in Indian IT that get settled in a meeting and never written down anywhere you can point to later.
- This site has been running since 2009, and it’s still publishing today. There are more than 400 articles here you can search.
- Advertising and paid placement pay for this site. Every paid link is labelled where you will see it. An advertiser can’t buy that label off, and can’t buy a say in what we write. If we get something wrong, tell us. We reply within a day, and if you’re right we correct the piece and add a dated note saying so.
- The questions here are the ones people actually ask at work. Can they actually force me back into the office five days a week? What am I owed if this ends badly? Is this raise worth the extra hours it will quietly cost me?
- We take a side. You get an argument you can disagree with, not a tidy summary that quietly leaves the whole decision back with you.
- Work rules keep changing, and so does the technology you’re handed to do the job on, and both of those changes usually land on you first, without much warning. Follow along and you should come away with something you can use. A question to put to HR. A clause to quote back. A reason to hold your ground that doesn’t rest on how you feel that day.
Every piece starts with something an employer would rather keep verbal. We work outward to whatever is actually written down: a policy, a clause in your own contract, or a rule the company is supposed to follow. Often there is nothing.
Most tech blogs help you choose a laptop, and this one asks whether the job you bought it for is treating you legally.
Read it early, and pass it on.
Follow along and you meet these questions early, rather than on the afternoon when somebody hands you a letter and wants your answer by the end of the week. Pass a piece on if it helps. Sending one to a colleague who is weighing an offer does more for this site than anything else.
